Hello all,
Here is a GORGEOUS Fender Eric Clapton "Blackie" Stratocaster in MINT condition with no reserve!!! As you can see, this guitar has no scratches, or dings, and has lots of custom appointments. You'll never find one in a shop like it. If you're familiar with the Clapton Strat, you know it has a super-comfortable "Soft V" neck that plays like a dream. It also has an alder body like a lot of vintage Fenders, not poplar or basswood like a lot of the current models. The weight is a very light, toneful 7 lbs, 12 ounces.
I've loved the feel of the Blackie Strats for a long time, but hated the tone. I think EC's well-publicized hearing damage doesn't allow him to realize that those Lace Sensors and Vintage Noiseless pickups sound like a farting goose with that midboost. What I've done is outfit this Blackie with a set of Seymour Duncan Five-Two Strat pickups, and instead of that muddy midboost, I've added a Fender TBX tone control. To my ears, this sounds 10 times better than a stock Clapton Strat. If you aren't familiar with the Duncan Five-Two pickups, they're an EXTREMELY balanced set. They use Alnico 2 magnets to provide warmth and softer attack on the three high
strings, and Alnico 5 magnets to provide punch and brightness on the low
strings. It's like having two separate presence controls: one optimized
for the high strings and one for the low strings. The result is a very
balanced pickup with a bright and springy bottom end, and a smooth and
rich top end. Imagine a Strat that can sound nice and glassy when clean, with that Hendrix "hollow" sound on the neck pickup, that can also get downright surly when overdriven. They really do sound phenomenal.
Lastly, you can see I added a black pearl pickguard just to dress up the appearance. The Eric Clapton Blackie Strat lists for $2200, with a "street" price of $1600. The pickups and TBX tone control cost me an additional $250. A pearl pickguard is another $50, so to get another guitar like it, you'd have to spend over $1900!!! Here's your chance to save HUNDREDS! The guitar will be very well-packed, and includes the vibrato bar, and a nice Fender gigbag. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks for looking!
