Great player and looker in excellent
condition with no issues whatsoever. Minimal fret wear, fantastic
relic-ed wear, no smoke or other mysterious odors, weighs in at 7
pounds, 11 ounces. I am not a heavy player and I don't
gig.  I take very good care of my
stuff, and I can send any high res detail photos you like.

This 2005 Custom Shop Blackie has all basics of any Blackie plus the
special extras that only come with the original Fender Custom Shop
build, including the higher grades of wood and hardware and attention to
detail and quality control (and the Clapton signature is thankfully out
of sight on the back of the headstock on CS models). I think the folks
that say Custom Shop guitars are not a lot better than standards have
probably not played them side by side very much, and I don't question
that there are some very fine standards around also.

These are the last of my guitar gems. My Mesa and Marshall amps are gone, my Gibson Les Paul, Gretch and telecaster are sold, now must sell the last ones I did not want to give up, my Fender 50th Anniversary American Deluxe Stratocaster and Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Blackie, relic work done by Jay Munn Custom Guitars. This auction is for the Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Blackie (on right in photos of both). See the 50th Anniversary Deluxe strat in my other auction.

About the relic work... In 2007 this guitar went to Jay Munn Custom Guitars for his great treatment. It is one of the featured guitars on their web site. (One picture is two photos directly below Jay's photo on the home page, then others throughout the site: http://www.jaymunnguitars.com ). It was already a great player, which is why it was worth sending to Jay to do his magic to make it an even better player. Sound and feel, as well as looks, much improved by his work, especially the already very nice soft v shape neck on these. His treatment to both sides of the neck is phenomenal. The maple fret board feel is much better too. It looks like hell, like it is scalloped or gouged out from wear. It is not gouged at all, it is smooth as silk but it looks like it is gouged from Jay's relic-ing (beautiful work!), and is even easier to play than before. And removing most of the original body finish has made it more resonant than it already was. Every square inch is reliced and treated, including all of the hardware and plastic. It is all basically new, and in excellent condition, but absolutely looks like it has 40 years of play wear. He even reliced the "noiseless" off of the plastic covers of the Clapton Vintage noiseless pickups. They are killer sounding pickups.

I pulled the wood trem block because I like to use the bar, but you can simply reinsert it behind the trem if you want to. Takes just a few seconds, literally, or I will be happy to do it for you. It made very little tonal difference to my ear whether in or out, but it is there if you want to slide it back into place to keep the tremolo blocked for authenticity. The Clapton electronics, with the TBX and mid boost, offer tons of range and options with a slight turn of the knob. I found that I use the TBX a lot and the boost just a little, and don't have to adjust my amp much at all.

Most of the case candy is there including the Custom Shop 20' cable (great cord!) the vintage leather strap which I never used, the COA (Certificate Of Authenticity) and the original white (also reliced) pickguard. I added the black one because I like the Gilmourish look better, but preferred the Clapton electronics, so you get both with this one. Comes with the G & G Fender Vintage tweed hard shell case.
