This is a 65 Fender Strat with a 54 neck with the color of the body being Salmon. This guitar was traded to us about 15 years ago for some recording studio gear and it was played just a few times in the studio. We are not guitar experts, but have sought the advice of some experts and what has been stated is listed below.
We have had a number of people look at this guitar and there is no mistaking that the neck was made in 1954. The center pickup and some other parts on it point to the fact that it was made in 65.
Here are the facts we know:
- The pencil dating on the neck states T-G-54 on the end and it is under the finish.
- The pencil date on the pickup states 8-9-65
- The machines under one cover says Japan
- Inside the body cavity on the back someone in time professionally routed out just enough space to fit a 9 vt battery.
- The color is Salmon and there is debate whether it is original or not. Even though everyone states it is Salmon, the issue is that it appears 'too' perfect for being made in 65. We we cannot say for sure either way.
- The metal plate on the back that attaches the neck was replaced sometime and so there is no date on it.
- Pickup covers are original
- Case possibly is Fender 40th Annivesary '54 Stratocaster formfit case in 1994 and we don't know for sure when it was made
- Center pickup is a '65 and Neck and Bridge pickups are 50s or 60s Black bobbin pickups
- Wires between all the pickups look to be original and not to have been tampered with
- Tremolo assembly is not a vintage part
- The pickguard is a reissue of some kind due to the foil placement on the back side.
There are several YouTube videos showing various aspects of the guitar. Even though the player claims on the video that some of the parts are original, we do not claim that here on this auction as we are not experts. What we do claim is listed above. If you have any questions, please email me and I will try and I will do my best to answer them.
