Offered for auction is a 1973 Fender Stratocaster Project guitar. Let start off by saying this guitar plays great and has low action and great tone and is being played currently in its current condition. It is listed as a project for the following reasons: The neck is from a 1973 Fender Stratocaster and is maple with the year and stamp code on the the butt of the heel. This is the last month Fender stamped this showing the model month year and nut width. In April they went to the digit codes stamped. The neck on the butt on the bottom by the "B" on the butt is uneven however the guitar plays fine looks as if it may been shaved a tad bit(see pic #1). The neck has the name Torres stamped on the underside of the heel and has the micro tilt disc cutout also but is missing(See Pic #9). The neck has been converted to a 4 bolt neck and has been refreted with Jumbo style frets and the neck seems thin and fast. The decal is correct and checking going on in the headstock with original "F" tuners and neck may have been overspayed as it is hard to tell but looks good. Also it appears the the the previous owner plugged the truss rod above the the nut with the old Fender style walnut plug. The neck is straight and plays good however it can be played as is or the new owner can removed and installed the bullet truss rod nut. The body appears to be alder and painted a very cool Gold which has some checking etc. The body is not from a 73 Strat and has a humbucker route in the bridge position, foil in some of the pockets, and appears to have been once mounted and repaired that had a kahler trem system. The current bridge is or does have Fender saddles on the bridge. The pickups and pots have been replaced but function with 5 way switch and pickups appear to be from a Mexican Strat? It is what it is! The body appears at one time to had a midi system also installed at on time see pics 5 & 7. The guitar has a very cool vintage patina to it plays and sounds good and I am starting the bidding for what the neck and keys are worth. The guitar is as is with all sales final and no returns so view all the pics, ask questions, and read the full description to avoid disappointment as it is a project. Guitar ships in gig bag and will be carefully packed.
