I am the original owner of this Mexican-made Fender Roland Ready Stratocaster. I bought it in 1995-96 and have taken great care of it.
There are, however, three fret setting glue stains at fret number three. The eleventh fret has a scratch mark in the fret board also put there when they installed the frets. I've also spotted a tiny glue mark and a few barely visible scratches south of the bridge. The seal of this finish is not broken as a result though. All of these defects took place at the factory and I should have done a better job of inspecting this machine before leaving the store. I simply didn't want the hassle of returning it so I never did. That is all the negative stuff 'bout this Strat folks!
I have given the guitar a once over before listing it and have done the following:
1) Oiled the thirsty rosewood fretboard with Ken Smith's sumptuous lemon oil making the fretboard stains and scratch less conspicuous and also, more importantly, prolonging the life of the board.
2) Meticulously polished each fret with heavy duty Sysco multi-purpose metal polish (don't worry, I taped between the frets.) I then re-coated the entire board, including the frets, with another generous helping of Smith's Lemon oil. I buffed the whole thing with a soft lint-free cloth.
3) I then changed the strings with 9 gauge Fender Stainless Steel Bullets right after applying Big Bends Nut Sauce to the saddles, nut and under side of the B and high E string tree. Each saddle was thoroughly set-up to accomodate the thicker gauge of strings which have been stretched for accurate tuning. They will make this guitar track much better when in Synthesizer mode as well as improve the overall tone.
In summation, this axe is cool and a bargain considering that I have treated it as if it were a highly prized vintage instrument - and who knows - maybe it will be one day.
