This is a real 1969 stratocaster body with an old amber refin that has a lot of mojo. There are a few minor
issues being what appears to be slight route to the back pocket where the springs go to accommodate the
ground wire and a screw hole to the right upper horn again on the back of the body. The entire front routes
are original and the factory red stamp on the neck pocket is clearly visible. One feature of this body is that
the center grain of the tree lines up with the neck pocket adding sustaining capabilities to the guitar similar to
the better constructed les pauls with this feature. Oh you also get the original backplate and strap locks that
came with the instrument when it left the factory. This is a real vintage 1969 stratocaster body with a start price
of a custom shop knockoff. As far as shipping is concerned I will only ship to a location after
the paypal
payment has cleared and require that has a verified
signature receipt upon arrival, please ask before you bid
if you are in a different location than listed.
On close inspection of the grain of the wood the middle piece has distinctive straight dark mineral lines that are at angles compared to the grain commonly found in "swamp ash" not alder.
From the ebay guide on fender use of woods.
"Light weight American wood, has a distinct ringing tone [when used as
body material]. This wood works well with spring tremolo systems and
single coil pickups to produce a transparent timbre with bell-like
overtones. Medium weight bodies yield the best tonal balance and
sustain. Extremely light bodies have a weak bottom end and sound thin.(
Rich Lanser: "The Quest For Ultimate Tone"; Guitar Player magazine;
February 1992; quoted acc. to Michael G. Peck ;
rec.music.makers.guitar; February 7, 1994)
The main type used by
Fender USA [as body material] is swamp ash because it provides a light
weight (body weight about 5 lb.) guitar with a balance of high and low
end.
Southern Soft or Swamp Ash is a prized wood for many
reasons. This is the wood many 50's Fenders were made of. It is easily
distinguishable from Northern Ash by weight. A Strat body will be under
5 lbs. This is a very musical wood offering a very nice balance of
brightness and warmth with lots of "pop". The grain is open and creamy
- a nice choice for clear finishes. Swamp Ash is our second most
popular wood. [As body material.] "
