Here is a great early 1973 strat that just sings and plays really well.  The combination of the old wood and finish along with the original 73 center pickup gives this tone to die for.  It has a bit of relic going for it to add character, but it's the sound and playability that make this one such a good guitar.  The pickups are evenly matched and strong.  The guitar is fairly light weight.  There are numerous wear marks on the body but the neck is clean and very comfy.  The photos tell the story, but here is what I do know:
Original Parts:  The neck (March 1973 B), the body, the middle pickup, the bridge, the pickguard, the knobs, the serialized neckplate, the pickup selector switch tip, the input jack, the screws, the string trees.  I think two of the pots, but I cannot tell for sure due to solder. I think the finish is original, but also am not certain (see description of the finish below).
Non-Original Parts:  The bridge pickup and neck pickup are dimarzios that were installed in the 80's along with a 5 way selector switch and at least one pot.  There are schaller tuners installed and they work rock solid and smoothe.  Both of these upgrades hold back the collector value, but the guitar is a lot more affordable because of that.
Frets:  Profesional refret a few years ago and very minimal wear since then. No dents on or visible indentations.  I am not an expert on fret sizes so I would have to say medium as a guess, but it feels great and has no buzz spots or dead spots. The action is comfortably low up and down the neck.  Very, Very playable.
Finish:  Appears to be original, but with a natural that was relic'd over the years its hard to say.  There is residue of pink paint on the back of the pickguard and in just a couple of spots I have seen very very small pink residue on the body indicating that in the early 80s someone painted over the finish and then it was taken off.  That tells me the paint was put on top of the natural finish and then removed without refinishing it since the pink is still on top.  You really have to search for the pink residue on the body because its so limited and minute, don't think you can even see it in the pictures other than the back of the pickguard, but it is definitely on the top of the natural finish and not under it.  Based on that and my close up view, I believe this is an original finish that was relic'd the old fashion way, by playing it alot. I have owned dozens of vintage instruments and usually those with play wear are that way because they are the better sounding and playing ones.
Sound:  Long sustain, great strat tone, pots and selector switch all work without any scratchiness.
Case:  Period Fender case in very good shape missing just one small peg.  All latches function well.  Interior is really nice and not smelly or torn.
Bid with confidence based on the pictures, there will not be any refunds unless damaged in transit. Sorry, no shipping outside of the Contiguous US. Shipping and handling will total $95 and includes insurance.  Will be profesionally packed with strings tuned down to avoid stress at cold high altitudes.
