With a Serial number of E337635 it is hard to know exactly when this guitar was made as the 82-85 period is a bit confusing when it comes to dating it but the Fender Elite was only manufactured for a short period of time at the Fullerton plant. The pots that are all original and are stamped 1378343 giving them a 1983 production date. This might be one of the last Fullerton strats or one of the first Corona guitars but needless to say that at this time of turmoil only the best of the best were making guitars for Fender.

Some of the noteworthy features, include the new string trees, 4-bolt "Elite" neckplate with
micro-tilt adjust, Schaller straplock strap pins, new-style Fender tuners with
"half-round" casing, side output jack, Low-Z pickups which are larger than
vintage style pickups, Freeflyte tremolo, low-friction string trees, and proprietary Freeflyte tremolo arm
with distinctive "T" protrusions that lock the bar in place, making it
both a trem arm and tool all in one. All this didn't come cheap. It was the most expensive strat at that time with a price of $895.00 for the Fender elite gold.

This is a just TOO cool Fender Elite in a custom solid green paint job that you couldn't get off the shelf. Sometime over the last 3 decades the knobs were swapped out for gold ones to match the rest of the hardware but everything else is original, including  the very rare brown ATA case only included with the Elite gold or Walnut versions. The case shows wear but is all there, and there are no cracks. The gold trim on it is pretty cool also.

The neck was crafted by Herbie Gastolum and is a great example of his top-notch work. For those who don't know Herbie well...he started at Fender somewhere around 1960 and was one of the original Fender custom shop neck master craftsmen. He retired after putting close to 50 years of dedicated work into the shop. All Gastolum-shaped necks command top dollar.

There are a couple dings just below the pickguard that are the size of a pencil tip. For a guitar of this age, it is in remarkably clean shape. Incredibly, it has no belt buckle wear.
