YEAR 2000
Fender American Series Standard Stratocaster
HOT ROD RED
This is a beautiful, collectable and players model 2000 Fender American Series Standard Stratocaster in Hot Rod Red, serial number Z0287833, made in Corona, California, USA in 2000. This was the first year for the American Series which makes it collectable and being 11 years old this year, it is half-way to becoming vintage/classic. I am the original owner and it is in all original mint condition having never been gigged or played outside my home. Since purchasing a 1962 Vintage Strat in 2007, I have not played this Strat and she needs to be played. Also included is an upgraded G&G “The Original Vintage Case Company” vintage style hardshell case with plush gold interior and brown tolex exterior, along with all the hang tags and case candy. Comes from a non-smoking, non-pet home environment.
The following excerpts are taken from Fender literature and the Stratocaster Chronicles, Celebrating 50 Years of the Fender Stratocaster by Tom Wheeler, forward by Eric Clapton:
The American Standard was a good guitar that served Fender long and well, buy in the summer of 2000, it was time to raise the bar. After 13 successful years, the American Standard would be retired, and replaced by the American Series Stratocaster. The new guitar didn’t look very different from its predecessor. In fact, the guitars pictured in ads seemed indistinguishable from American Standards, unless you happened to notice that the peghead bore a tiny “Original Contour Body” decal and had one string tree instead of two. Fender replaced the TBX control with “no-load” control. Where the TBX had a center detent at the 5 position, the no-load works like a regular 250k tone control all the way up to 10, at which point the knob clicks and the pot is eliminated altogether from the circuit. On vintage Strats, there was no tone control for the bridge pickup, so the no-load on 10 is intended to provide that original wide-open treble sound. To warm it up a bit, the player can back off the knob, bring in the tone pot, and adjust it to his or her liking. The tone control also works on the middle pickup, and provides more sparkle in the top end when the selector is in the 2 or 4 position.
