Everyone knows..............these are some of the very best Stratocasters that Fender ever made!

1994  FENDER American Deluxe Strat Plus.......................the legendary Black Strat

In Great Condition...........for a 17 year-old Stratocaster.

This Deluxe Strat Plus has a true "blue blood" heritage.  Two of the first players who loved the Strat Plus with its icy hot Lace Sensors were Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. There are may pictures of these two guitar icons playing a Strat Plus in the late 80's and early 90's.  According to Clapton, Lace Sensors continue to be his favorite pickups for a stratocaster. But wait....there is more. How did the "Black Strat" become so famous?...........David Gilmour of Pink Floyd played a Black Stratocaster for many years on some on Pink Floyd's most famous songs. But did you know that Gilmour also plays a Red Strat..........that uses Lace Sensor pickups?  Hopefully, these few examples will provide some evidence that the FENDER Deluxe Strat Plus is truly a great guitar.

So, what makes this a Deluxe Model Strat Plus?  

1.  Only the Deluxe Model has the three hot-rodded Blue, Silver, and Red Lace Sensor pickups (shown in pictures 3 and 4).  Just as the Deluxe Strat Plus was the top-of-the-line for Fender during this period, these special Lace single-coil pickups were the best pickups every made by Lace. They produce a much greater range of tone from the classic Strat "glassy" tone to sizzling hot, overdriven distortion.........ala Jimi Hendrix.  Why else would Clapton, Beck, and Gilmour use stratocasters with these same pickups?

2. During the last two years of the Strat Plus,  Fender added a feature that would revolutionize the Stratocaster and guitars in general: in case you did not notice, this bad-ass Black Strat comes with a factory installed Floyd Rose Locking Tremolo System......far superior to the early and current Fender Trem systems.  Combined with Schaller Locking Tuners, this Deluxe Strat Plus maintains perfect tuning even under the heaviest use of that "whammy bar".       Now that is unusual for a Stratocaster.

Condition of this Strat:  Excellent, especially when you consider this is a 17 year-old guitar.

  ***** Frets are still in very good condition with very little fret wear (shown in picture 8).  The dark Rosewood fingerboard is also in excellent condition and is a great compliment to the blackness of this Stratocaster.

  ***** Cosmetically, this Deluxe Strat Plus is also excellent. Almost perfect on the front body (two tiny scratches) and no buckle rash on the back, but a small ding-paint chip on the back edge (cannot be seen from the front and easily repairable).  Maple neck is also in great condition (one tiny ding at the top of the neck by the nut and a few minor discolorations in the back of the maple neck).

  *****  Since the Floyd Rose System is such a critical part of this guitar, I did a set up and string change to check out how well it worked.  Again,  excellent condition.  Locks are easy to use and hold strings securely.  Drop in Whammy bar fits well and stays in place when playing. I also showed the inner trem system with springs (picture 9) that works very well.  I personally like more than three springs but the buyer can adjust that to suit his preference. By the way, with the setup, this strat has a new set of D'Addario strings (10-46).

  ***** Locking tuners can be frustrating to deal with. The Schaller Locking Tuning Machines on this strat are easy to use and hold the strings in tune, even with heavey use of the trem system.  The LSR Roller nut (standard on the Strat Plus) also helps with string bending.

Comes with the original Fender Hard Shell Case with the "turn-key" latches. Note that the middle latch is missing, but the case still holds the guitar securely.  When I bought this guitar, it did not come with the allen wrench needed for the Floyd Rose system. I have purchased the proper metric size allen wrench and will include that with the sale.
